Saturday, October 23, 2010: Turning Leaves meeting

Karen's book group, Turning Leaves, met Saturday morning, October 23, 2010, at Mimi's Cafe in Scottsdale.  In attendance and pictured below were Katie K. and cute little son Grant, Cathy, Jennifer, Debbie, Karen N. and Katie D.  Our read for the meeting was LUCKY by Alice Sebold, who'd also written THE LOVELY BONES, which we had read some time back.  LUCKY is about the author's own experience with having been raped while in college.  We all thought the author is a great writer, but we were disappointed with how her life played out as the book ended.  Then again, if one had been through what the author had, and had been the person she was before and after her terrible experience, would one's story have differently?  Guess we'll never know for sure!
